Adult film star August Ames, who appeared in almost 300 movies and won AVN awards in 2015 and 2017, was found dead Tuesday in her Camarillo, California home. The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled her death a suicide.
The 23-year-old died just days after a Tweet in which she said she didn't want to work with male actors who also did gay porn.
Months before her suicide, Ames revealed she was bipolar, suffered from multiple personality disorder and had been sexually abused by her grandfather.
The Canadian-born, Colorado-raised actress was married to adult film director Kevin Moore, who released this statement: "She was the kindest person I ever knew and she meant the world to me. Please leave this as a private family matter in this difficult time."
