Police Believe Bronx Teen Jordany Aracena Was Killed Over Rap Lyrics

by HHL JT

17-year-old Jordany Aracena had no criminal record or known gang affiliation.

Yet he was shot to death in broad daylight by five men in ski masks in his hometown of The Bronx Sunday after being lured to an area by a phone call.

Police believe he was executed in retaliation for the bars in the drill music he was posting to the internet.

“He was very new to drill and said the wrong thing in a song,” said City Councilman Oswald Feliz. “That may have made him a target. In my district, we’ve seen that pattern over and over.”

In particular, he mentioned the names of other local rappers who had died.

According to Aracena's neighbor and friend Eric Scott, the teen did not live the life he rapped about.

“He was never violent, except for his music,” said Scott, 21, a boxing trainer. “He’d be lying [in his raps] about what he did and was going to do, like lots of dudes. It’s a shame.”

The police haven't announced any suspects.

RIP.
