In Fabolous's 2011 track "Lord Knows" he goes all the way in on former football player Plaxico Burress, who famously shot himself in the leg during a trip to a New York City nightclub when he was playing for the Giants in 2008. He was charged with gun possession and reckless endangerment and served almost two years.
"Like Plaxi-ho, oops, I mean Plaxico
Talking bout we get 'em robbed -- shut the f*ck up, Cheddar Bob
You know the story, nigga come home, set it sob
Gonna be a hater cause he can't find a better job," Fab raps
Fab was pissed because earlier that year The New York Daily News had published an article in which they suggested Burress was carrying in the club back in 08 because he was worried about the Fabolous-affiliated Street Family, a bunch of Brooklyn goons who were said to be robbing professional athletes outside of Manhattan nightclubs.
Buress denied he gave the Daily News that info in a new interview with VladTV.
"I have no idea where that came from," he said, acknowledging he's heard "Lord Knows". "I was carrying a gun in Pittsburgh. That had nothing to do with him or nobody. That was just my personal preference. I don't know anybody who affiliated with [Fab.] Whatever stories or whatever was made up. That had nothing to do with me. That was never on my mind."
