Peter Rosenberg Explains Why Jay Electronica's 'Synagogue Of Satan' Lyric Was 'Hurtful'

by Daryl Nelson

Peter Rosenberg and Jay Electronica got into it on Twitter after Rosenberg, who's Jewish, said he was offended by the words "synagogue of Satan" on Jay's song "The Ghost Of Soulja Slim" off his new Written Testimony album

"And I bet you a Rothschild, I get a bang for my dollar / The synagogue of Satan want me to hang by my collar" Jay spit on the song.

After Jay and Rosenberg had their social media back-and-forth, the Hot 97 host doubled down on being offended by the lyric on his radio show. [Jump to the 1:01 mark]

"[The lyric is] dangerous, especially in today’s climate," said Rosenberg on-air. “Please don't tell me as a Jew whose mother was born in a displaced person's camp after the holocaust, don't tell me what I should be offended about. This isn't about my place in hip-hop...If Jay wants to speak about it, he said you want to have a forum? We have a forum every day, my G. Anytime. I'm not saying I hate the guy and we can't have a conversation, of course, we can. But I have the right to express that those words are hurtful."

What do you think about Rosenberg's point of view?

Jay Elec could use some controversy.  So for Written Testimony is looking like a flop ten years in the making.
