Offset Talks About Stint In Jail And Why He Took A Plea

by HHL Editors

Offset of Migos spent 233 days in jail awaiting trial on drugs and weapons charges.

Last month, he took a plea and was released with probation.

In an interview with Fader, Offset spoke on his time in jail, and taking a deal even though he believes he was innocent.

According to Offset, he didn't write while he was in prison because Migos "goes in the booth and goes off the top." He said everybody knew who he was in jail, which he found disconcerting. He spent most of his days playing cards, reading, watching TV and talking to his bandmates Takeoff and Quavo,

As for why he took the deal:

"Either I had to say in jail and try to go to trial—which I would have beat, but it would have been a long process and I would have still been in jail right now—or I could take this probation, so I could be with my kids and my family, supporting them. I can't do nothing when I'm in jail, so I had to take the punch. Whatever I had to do to get free I was willing to do it, so I did what I felt like that was the best for me. And I'm out now. It was a kind of hard decision to make, but I took the first way out. I'm glad I made the decision because now I can get back to the money. I can get back to what I love, I can get back to my family. I can go on the road."
Migos dropped the mixtape YR2 earlier this week.
