A Police Officer Is In Hot Water For Celebrating Jimmy Wopo's Death

by Daryl Nelson

A police officer by the name of Brian M. Martin has been placed on desk duty after he wrote on social media that he was celebrating Jimmy Wopo's death.

Martin typed those words on Facebook after someone asked why people were protesting the killing of Antwon Rose Jr. by police in Pittsburgh (the officer involved was just charged with criminal homicide) and not Wopo's.  The 21-year-old rapper was gunned down in a drive-by shooting on July 18.

"People out there protesting for a murderer because he was young and wrote a poem," one person wrote of Rose. "What about the kids whose death he was involved in? Not one protesting for him? Everyone forgot about the Wopo murder that quick?"

"Not me," Martin wrote back. "I'm still celebrating."

Once the officer's words began to spread, he was temporarily relieved of his duties on the night command staff and was blasted by the mayor Pittsburgh Bill Peduto.

"It was a comment that not only created additional duress during this situation but also put his fellow officers in potential danger," said the Mayor.

An official statement was also released by the city and it was revealed that a full investigation of Martin and his post was underway.

"We will hold this officer accountable for his actions," the statement read. "Comments that disparage victims and endanger the community and fellow officers will not be tolerated by the City of Pittsburgh. Such behavior is a poor reflection on the Bureau and will not be tolerated."

What do you think will happen to the officer?
