Obie Trice Apologizes For Homophobic Rant While Defending Kevin Hart

by Daryl Nelson

Obie Trice apologized for spewing negative words about homosexuality in defense of Kevin Hart.

Hart stepped down from hosting the Oscars last week after some old homophobic tweets of his surfaced. At first, Hart refused to apologize but did so later on. Some blasted the comedian for the old tweets and others defended him.

Obie defended Hart during a show in Toronto.

"The state's trying to bully you into respecting this gay shit," he said in a now-delated video.  "But we supposed to respect gay and they took my man Kevin Hart. [He] had to duck down [and] get off the Oscars because of this. All he wanted to do was the motherfuckin' Oscars."

Obie caught heat for those words, so he apologized.

"First of all, I want to apologize to anyone I offended out there," he wrote in a now-deleted message. "I understand the different perspectives and not wanting to be called any slurs. But I'm a Hip Hop artist and everything can't be taken so seriously. I didn't say anything last night, the other night, to purposely offend anybody. I have no bias towards the LGBTQ+ community. The gay people I know we bullshit like that with it. That's how we talk."
