NYPD Watches Drill Videos; Arrest Over 20 Gang Members

Earlier this year, the NYPD announced that they were looking into the drill music scene.

Not so much because they thought the music was causing New York City's uptick in violence.  But because they believe that it inflames the situation and that a lot of gang members are participating in drill music.

Last week, more than 20 Bronx gang members were arrested in "Operation Drilly."

The gangbangers are being indicted for 32 violent crimes committed over a three-year period.  The charges include murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, assault, and grand larceny.

The cops say watching drill videos on YouTube and social media helped them make the arrests.

Central to their case is teen rapper Lee Drilly, who bragged about his violent crimes in his 2021 "B.E.T." video.

“It was senseless violence,”  said Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark. “It was beefs and slights and disrespects that all drove some of these incidents.”
