Although they are being officially revealed today, we already have seen the new Kobe 10s due to its earlier release oversees. While they are identical to the Blue Lagoons we thought they would be named after, the Kobe 10s in the States will be called  “5 AM Flight” instead. Kobe’s 10th signature shoe is officially slated to drop February 7th online and in select Nike retailers.

The 10's 5 AM Flight nomenclature is inspired by Bryant’s perseverance to overcome the odds and face his fears head-on. Back in August 2013, during his recovery from an ACL surgery, Bryant took an early morning swim after a 40 foot dive or "flight." Checkout the Vine below of Kobe completing the feat.

In the reveal video, also below, Eric Avar, Nike’s Creative Director/ VP of Innovation and designer of Kobe’s entire signature line tells us that the new shoe uses a combination of 3 Nike technologies just for the outsole. He also explains the advanced textiles of the upper offer a new lightweight, breathable, durable, and strong open weave inspired by the pattern and strength of sharkskin.
