Ne-Yo's Album Opens In Fifth; Lupe Fiasco and Joey Bada$$ Fall Off

by HHL Editors

It was a decent enough opening week for Ne-Yo's sixth album.

Non-Fiction moved 59,475 units, good for fifth on the Billboard album chart. (Billboard's "units" are an intersection of album sales, single sales and streams meant to replicate what album sales used to be.)

The news wasn't as good for Joey Bada$$'s B4.DA.$$ and Lupe Fiasco's Tetsuo & Youth; they both fell out of the Billboard top ten in their second weeks. Billboard reports Tetsuo & Youth did 12,941 and  B4.DA.$$ moved 12,493, a flip flop of their positioning after their first week.

Both albums were topped by long-time Hip Hop holdovers Nicki Minaj's The Pinkprint  (48,457 sold last week) and J. Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive (28,904.)

As for the overall market, Taylor Swift's 1989 returned to the top stop after a week in second by moving 101,000 units. Swift becomes the first female artist to have two albums that have topped the charts for at least ten weeks, with 1989 joining 2008's Fearless.
