Nas Corrects Snoop Dogg's Tale of Nas and 2Pac Going At It In Central Park

by HHL JT

A couple of years back, Snoop Dogg told a tale of Nas and 2Pac and their respective crews meeting up in New York's Central Park in 1996, shortly before Pac was gunned down in Las Vegas.

"Pac had seen Nas in the park, and he and Nas had words. But Nas didn't want none," Snoop remembered. "But Nas has 100 n*ggas with guns. By me saying he didn't want none, didn't mean he punked out. It mean he just didn't to go all the way there because we was in New York in Central Park. With 100 goons from New York circled us. Pac didn't even see them. I did because I had a gang bang mentality. I seen the niggas putting their hands in their pockets when Pac was in [Nas's] ear telling him 'N*gga, n*gga I made a song, n*gga, dissing you, JAY-Z ,Biggie.'"

Nas is promoting his new album King's Disease and during his stop on Hot 97, he corrected the record on the encounter.

"I heard Snoop tell the story a few times, but he had it wrong a little bit," Nas explained. "[Pac] was in New York and there was a lot of tension. "

Nas saw Pac at an awards show and they exchanged words tense but respectful words.

"Where I was coming from really wasn't an all love place 'cause there was a rumor Makaveli [was] coming out, so I really wanted to check the temperature with him," he continued.  "At that point we had to address the situation because they was in the city and we had to step to our business.

"We had a great convo., He thought I was dissing him on the song 'The Message, [with the "fake thugs no love line]."

Nas then explained to Pac that he wasn't dissing him at all, and they decided to keep talking in Las Vegas.

The rest is history.
