by HHL Editors

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class of 2016 was announced this morning, and N.W.A. is a part of it.

They become the fifth rap act to make the final cut, following the Furious Five (2007), Run DMC (2009), the Beastie Boys (2012) and Public Enemy (2013.)

Ice Cube spoke on the N.W.A finally getting the votes on their fourth nomination.

This means that the group's mark is solidified," Cube said. We got some of the most creative, talented people in N.W.A that's ever been compiled in one group. It's just exciting that the group as a whole gets recognized by the whole industry as Hall of Fame-worthy."
Dr. Dre also weighed in:

When we started N.W.A, I couldn't have imagined this. I never thought the type of music we were making would receive such a high accolade. I have always done what I love to do, so to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is unreal. I am humbled to be included in such an amazing group of great artists.
Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple and Steve Miller will also be inducted during a ceremony to be held April 8 in Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
