Metro Boomin Claps Back After Russ Blames Producers For Ruining Rap

Back in 2017, Russ blamed producers for ruining rap in an interview with Vlad TV.

That take is back in the news after DJ Akademiks reposted the interview.

"People think you blame the rappers for the state of Hip Hop. Rappers are not making the music. Producers are making wack shit. If all I do is rap then I'm a vocalist. And if a producer sends me a pack of 20 beats and they're all wack and all the same, I'm just fucked I have to pick the best of the worst," Russ explained.

Russ went on to say there used to be great producers like Dr. Dre, Just Blaze, Scott Storch, Pharrell, Timbaland and Kanye, but they've all fallen back for whatever reason and the next generation of producers aren't very good.

Metro Boomin, who's one of those new producers (when he's not claiming to be retired at 24), broke a five-month Twitter absence to object to Russ's take.

"Russ is wack," reads a note Young Metro holds.
