Meek Mill Says He Started The Drake Beef Because He Was High On Drugs

by Daryl Nelson

Meek Mill said he was high on drugs and living sloppy when he picked a beef with Drake a few years ago.

“I was just out of control at that point in my life. Getting high and doing whatever I wanted, how I wanted to do it. In front of the world, not behind the scenes,” Meek, who revealed that he had an opioid addiction earlier this year, told New York mag.

Meek also admitted that he had no idea if Drake used a ghostwriter or not, he was just pissed, so he said it. Much of their beef had to do with Quentin Miller and if he penned Drake's rhymes or not.

Meek also said he's been communicating with Drake since before he went to prison and before the two of them reunited on stage in September. But they never told the public about it.

“I don’t know his writing situation or how he really carried it," Meek admitted. "I just jumped out of anger and what I thought was the truth at the time. Me and Drake have actually been communicating for the last year. Even before I went to prison. It was based on the right time. We ain’t have nothing going on but a rap beef, we didn’t cause harm to each other."

“I think it took both of us going through some ups and downs, me in my career," he added. "It made me stronger. I’m moving off love right now, so it was only proper to link with someone I actually did business with before and called my friend before."

And as far as working with Drake again, Meek said he's totally open to it since they had so much success on Meek's cut "R.I.C.O." a while back.

"I think that’s possible," said Meek about another collaboration. "What we did was genuine. We didn’t just do it for the love of the people ‘cause we could’ve been done that. We waited until we were ready and did that.”

Are you excited for these two to work together again or are you over the whole Meek and Drake thing?
