Matthew Knowles Details His Reaction Listening To Beyonce's 'Lemonade'

Beyonce's father, Matthew Knowles, heard Lemonade just like the rest of us. He popped some popcorn and turned on HBO. Matthew is referenced on Lemonade a few times, so what was his reaction?

"Well, at first, I was, the first ten minutes, I was a little…confused," He explains to WatchLoud. "I didn’t know quite where she was coming from. Was she talking literally or was she leaving it up to the viewer to use their own interpretation of what she was saying? And then it hit me that she had cleverly made this body of work to make one think and make one think a lot."
Matthew also addressed the relationship that he has with Beyonce, which has been reported as rocky.

"I think if one would look at the HBO special then you’d see what everybody else saw. They saw me talking to Beyoncé when she was a young child and challenging her, even then, to understand where she was coming from and critical thinking, but you also seen me diving on the bed and playing with Blue Ivy so that kinda answers your question right there. I choose to let the press say whatever they want and let people say whatever they want. It’s nobody’s business how much I see my daughter or my grandkids, that’s something personal that I care not to share."
In different interview with E!, Matthew reveals who the album is about. (Well, sorta.)

"Let me tell you who she's talking about, can I tell you who she's talking about? She's talking about you. You put that in context for you personally. She’s talking about you and everybody that is you, that’s who she’s talking about. I think that’s the beauty of her creativity and I think that’s what makes it so special, is that it relates to everyone. Every one of us have been disappointed before and have had to go through the grieving process of anger and, you know, disappointment and then acceptance and forgiveness. And I think that’s why this again is touching so many people, because it’s universal. Everybody can relate to it.”
Wait? Does this mean Becky with the good hair is also all of us? That would certainly keep the BeeHive busy.
