Mark Cuban Updates Delonte West's Condition

Earlier this year,  Delonte West was spotted panhandling in Alexandria, Virginia.

The former NBA player has been on and off the streets for the last several years. But it had appeared things were looking up for the 39-year-old  and he had been practicing his ball and talking about joining Ice Cube's Big3 league shortly before his latest setback.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has tried to help his former player, who suffers from mental illness and addiction, over the years.

In a new chat with TMZ, Cuban concedes West now has to be the one to help himself.

“I have been," Cuban says when asked if he's been in contact with West lately. "He's going to want to help himself first.  I've tried.  I know it's tough on him.  I wish him nothing but the best."

He was then asked if West is doing better.

"No.  It's a struggle for him. I mean, addiction is awful. And mental illness is awful. He's at the point in his life where he's got to want to be helped,” Cuban answered.
