Listen To Rare Eminem Freestyle From 1997

by HHL Editors

Back before all the fame and the controversy, Eminem was a struggling emcee dreaming of a life of fame and controversy. During that run up to his lift-off, the-then 24-year old stopped by Baruch College’s radio station in New York City and did a bit of free-styling for their Solo Vibes feature. The 1997 session has just come to light, and you can listen to it below.

"Eminem comes in somewhat shy or just cool and I thought [his manager] Paul [Rosenberg] was his bodyguard because he was a big dude," DJ Sincere, who hosted Solo Vibes radio, said. “Needless to say, Em killed it with a battle style that was so sharp, besides his flow and delivery, how he spit, what he spit, and how everyone in the room was so impressed."
The guy Em is trading bars with is A.L., an underground rapper we don't really know much about. Not long after the session Eminem hooked up with Dr. Dre and the rest is Hip Hop history.
