Lin-Manuel Miranda Says Immortal Technique Terrorized Him In High School

by HHL Editors

Lin-Manuel Miranda, who created and starred in the Hip Hopera Hamilton, went to high school with rapper and political activist Immortal Technique.

And apparently during their days at Hunter College High School in Manhattan, Immortal [Felipe Coronel] was more about punishing the people then bringing power to them.

"He terrorized kids, he threw them in the garbage," Miranda said of Coronel on Marc Maron's podcast. "I got thrown in the garbage by him." He got a part senior year [in the school play] and I was like, 'Oh my god, I'm in a fucking play with the dude that scares the shit out of all my friends," Miranda continued.
But Miranda bears no grudge against Technique. In fact, he's proud of him.

"He's one of the most political, ideological [rappers], he really made an incredible life for himself as a rapper," he explained. "He was a really angry kid and it's been wonderful to watch him grow up and find a political outlet for that anger."
Would you be so forgiving?
