Lil Wayne Is Suing His Lawyer For Ripping Him Off

by HHL JT

It looks like Birdman wasn't the only one taking advantage of Lil Wayne financially.

TMZ reports that Tunechi is suing his former lawyer Ronald Sweeney for charging him double the industry rate.

Sweeney, who repped Wayne from 2005 through September of 2018, was getting 10 percent for every deal he was on. What Wayne didn't know until recently is that the industry standard is five percent.

Furthermore, Sweeney wasn't even his main counsel when he sued Birdman. Sweeney brought in another firm to do the litigation, which ended up netting Wayne $10 million, the rights to Carter V and full ownership of Young Money.

That outside firm received  23 percent of the Cash Money portion of the settlement and 15 percent of the Universal Music Group portion with Sweeney still getting his 10 percent on each.

Wayne wants at least $20 million from Sweeney, which would be a little more than the lawyer made during his tenure with Weezy.
