Lil Wayne Sold His Masters For Over $100 Million: See What Bob Dylan & Taylor Swift Got

by HHL JT

Embedded in the $20 million lawsuit Lil Wayne's ex-lawyer and manager Ronald Sweeney just hit Tunechi with is pretty big news about Lil Wayne's catalog.

According to the suit, Wayne sold his masters to Universal for a bit north of $100 million back in June.

This would make Wayne the third big star to have their masters sold since the summer

Taylor Swift has had her masters old twice -- and both times against her will.  The first time, in 2019, Scooter Bruan paid $300 million-plus for her catalog up to 2017's Reputation. In November, Bruan flipped Swift's masters to Shamrock Holdings, the investment fund of the Disney family, for an estimated $450 million.

Earlier this month, music legend Bob Dylan sold his masters for $300 million, also to Universal.

Neither Swift nor Dylan's sold masters include their future work and Swift has publically vowed to re-record all of the material she no longer owns and sink the value of her original masters.

It's unclear if Wayne's  $100 million deal with Universal includes his future output.

Do you think Weezy got a good deal given what was paid for Dylan and Swift's catalogs?
