Lil Nas X has been killing the charts for months with his smash hit "Old Town Road."

On top of that, he recently came out as gay and has been facing some backlash because of his sexuality. 

While speaking with Gale King for CBS This Morning, Lil Nas X explained that he knew he was gay at a young age, and "prayed" that it was only a phase. 

Gale King: Did you know as a little boy that you were gay?

Lil Nas X: Definitely. I knew, Especially around my teenage years. I was just like praying, praying, praying.

Gale King: What were you praying for?

Lil Nas X: That it was like a phase, [that it would] go away, I mean, 'cause me being in this position, it's easy for me. But like some little boy 10 miles from here, it's not gonna be good for him.
