Lil' Mo Explains Why Latto Isn't In Nicki Minaj's League

by Daryl Nelson

Singer and radio personality Lil' Mo stopped by Cam Newton's Funky Fridays where a comparison of Nicki Minaj and Latto came up.

In October of last year, the two rappers got into an argument, which resulted in Latto recording their conversation and releasing it.

The beef was over Nicki wanting her song “Super Freaky Girl” to be put in the rap category at the Grammys instead of pop since Latto's "Big Energy" stayed in the rap slot.

As for Mo's comparison, she said Latto isn't even in Nicki's league when it comes to her rap career and explained why. [Jump to the 6:36 mark]

“Imma be real honest. You can’t compare a Latto to a Nicki, ’cause Nicki been in the game,” Mo explained. “So when she say, ‘All these bitches is my sons,’ people [are] like, ‘Oh, she throwing shots.’ No, because before her, she bows at Lauryn Hill ... A lot of people come out talking heavy but I’m like, if you ain’t been in the game at least 10 years and been through a damn scandal, a death threat, or almost near death experience, you can’t say that one hit [made you] … No, you gotta have a discography.”
