Lebron Finally Topples Tiger For Top Sports Brand

It took a bizarre sex scandal and several years of shaky play, but Tiger Woods has finally been dethroned as the sports world most valuable personal brand.

Lebron James is the new king of athletic branding, valued by Forbes Magazine at $37 million. Tiger was second at $36 million, followed by Roger Federer ($32 million) Phil Mickelson ($29 million) and cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni ($20 million.)

Usian Bolt, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kobe Bryant, Lionel Messi and Rafael Nadal rounded out the top the ten.

For  their"The Forbes Fab 40: The World's Most Valuable Sports Brands 2014" feature, the business mag also ranked the ten most valuable teams in the world. They are: 1. New York Yankees $521 million 2. Real Madrid $484 million 3. Barcelona $438 million 4. Dallas Cowboys $404 million 5. Manchester United $399 million 6. New England Patriots $351 million 7. Bayern Munich $287 million 8. Los Angeles Dodgers $279 million 9. Boston Red Sox $260 million 10. Los Angeles Lakers 2014: $254 million

For sporting goods and entertainment brands, it was Nike topping ESPN, and for sporting events it was the Super Bowl over the Olympic Games.
