Kurtis Blow Names His Most Underrated Rapper Of Today

by HHL JT

Kurtis Blow's 1980 track "The Breaks" is the first gold record in Hip Hop history.

Blow hasn't dropped any new music since the mid-90s, but the 58-year old still keeps on top of the game and had some thoughts about the state of rap in a Reddit AMA, including who he thinks is today's most underrated rapper.

“I’d say Future should get more respect than he does,” wrote Blow. “He’s an incredible rapper that doesn’t get the credit he deserves. Maybe even David Banner, whose activism doesn’t get enough attention.”

Blow also celebrated Hip Hop's rise to the top of the charts.

“I am actually proud to be in hip-hop,” he wrote. “It is the No.1 genre in the world. 25 percent of all music streamed is hip-hop, and everyone involved should get the credit and the props, and my hat goes off to everyone involved who made it the success it is today.”

In the chat, Blow listed his favorite current rapper as Kendrick Lamar and claimed to have no idea who Lil Pump is.

Who do you think is today's most underappreciated rapper?
