Kid Cudi Admits He Was "Ashamed" to Talk About His Mental Health

by HHL JT

Kid Cudi has been fairly open about his struggles with mental health, which cumulated in him checking into rehab for depression and suicidal thoughts in 2016.

At the time, Cudi mentioned shame as a big factor in what he was going through.

Its been difficult for me to find the words to what Im about to share with you because I feel ashamed. Ashamed to be a leader and hero to so many while admitting I've been living a lie," he wrote on Facebook as he checked himself in.

He expanded upon that in a new episode of Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk series.

"I was really good at keeping my troubles hidden… even from my friends," Cudi told Jada and her fam. "I really was good with that. And it's scary because you hear people say, 'I had no clue.’"

"I really went out of my way to keep what I was going through hidden because I was ashamed," he added.

The whole episode airs next Monday.
