Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter was arrested early yesterday morning for assaulting his girlfriend, former WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick.

The details of the assault cast a big shadow over the rest of his NBA career.

Gondrezick told police that Porter punched her multiple times in the face with a closed fist, cutting her above the right eye and causing bruising and substantial pain to her face.  

He grabbed her throat with his hand and squeezed hard, causing redness and a fractured vertebrae in her neck.

Porter's bail was set at 100K and he remains locked up.  He will next appear in court in October.

"We are in the process of gathering information surrounding the matter involving Kevin Porter Jr. We have no further comment at this time," the Rockets said in a statement.

Porter averaged 19.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists last season.
