Kendrick Lamar's 'To Pimp A Butterfly' Goes Gold

by HHL Editors

This past week, To Pimp A Butterfly moved 29,000 copies, giving it 513,000 since release and gold status.

Kendrick Lamar's follow up to Good Kid, M.A.A.D City is the seventh album to go gold this year, including Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late. This is the most albums to pass 500,000 by this date since 2010, according to Billboard.

The news wasn't as good for Wale. After debuting number one on the Billboard charts, The Album About Nothing fell to 11th in its second week. It is only the 13th album this decade to debut in first place and then drop out of the top ten.

Replacing Wale in the top spot is the soundtrack for Furious 7, which took a month to hit number one. Its recent surge is almost entirely the result of the streaming success of Wiz Khalifa's No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hit 'See You Again.'
