Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly continues to be a polarizing piece of work. When we did a post earlier this month on how he plans to retire the material, a lot of you said that was for the best.
However, he has a big fan in David Bowie. According to Bowie's producer Tony Visconti, the legendary rock star turned to TPAB when he was looking for a new sound for his upcoming album ★ (Blackstar).
"We were listening to a lot of Kendrick Lamar," Visconti says to Rolling Stone. "We wound up with nothing like that, but we loved the fact Kendrick was so open-minded and he didn't do a straight-up Hip Hop record. He threw everything on there, and that's exactly what we wanted to do."Bowie is one of the most well respected artists of all time, so that's some pretty big praise. Blackstar drops on January 8, 2016, his 69th birthday.
