The thing about subliminals are that they're, well, subliminal.
So we can't know for sure if Kendrick Lamar is taking shots at Drake on Dr. Dre's new album Compton.
But just about everyone who's listened to the LP has noticed that on two of the three songs K.Dot is featured he spits bars that appear to be directed at Toronto's favorite son.
In the track 'Darkside/Gone' Kendrick raps "You scared of my heist now/But still I got enemies giving me energy/ I wanna fight now/Subliminally sent to me all of this hate."
This seems to be a reference to Drake's IYRTITL cut 'Energy," although one could think of it more as a homage than a call out.
Things are seemingly less vague on the track 'Deep Water.'
“Motherfuckers know I started from the bottom," K.Dot begins, referencing one of child actor Drake's more successful tunes.
"They liable to bury him, they nominated six to carry him/ They worrying him to death, but he's no vegetarian/ The beef is on his breath, inheriting the drama better than/ A great white, nigga, this is life in my aquarium," Lamar spits later in his verse.
