Kanye West's New Album Is Like "A Pair of Timberlands"

by HHL Editors

Sadly, we were not among the 20 people who previewed Kanye West's upcoming album during a drunken Paris Fashion Week listening party  that included a "dark room, "mad babes" and "moshing."

Malik Yusef has heard it. In fact, the frequent West collaborator is helping Kanye finish up the 20 track project, which is expected to be released before the end of the year.

Yusef told Rolling Stone magazine that the new album won't sound anything like Yeezus, adding that West deliberately made the 2013 release sound different than his previous works -- something Yusef didn't always agree with.

So what is the new joint going to sound like:

"It's like a pair of Timberlands; like how Timberlands are not quite leather and not quite suede," Yuset explains "It's not the smooth, slick Chicago music sound we have right now, and it's not the ruggedness of just 'hip-hop hip-hop hip-hop. We're still working like a motherfucker. We've been all around the world [recording]."

We're not going to deny it, the first time we read the quote from Yusef we thought he meant the album was going to sound like "A pair of Timbalands." Which would be like "Work It" on speed, rather than an old pair of no quite leather boots.

What ever happened to Timbaland?
