John Legend's last album, Love In The Future, was released on August 30, 2013. He's always taken his time with his albums. The shortest wait has been two years, while the longest stretched from 2008's Evolver to 2013. His upcoming fifth album falls somewhere in the middle.

Legend and producer Blake Mills are wrapping up the currently untitled album so it'll be set for a September release. The recording process has birthed at least 50 songs, but he tells Billboard that the plan is to present 12 songs in the end.

"It’s really cool. It’s really soulful, honest,” Legend says of the material. “It reflects where I am now in my life and the way I’m looking at the world right now. It’s about my life and the world and the world that my daughter’s gonna be born into, and I think about all that as I’m writing and I think this’ll be a special album for that reason.”
To add to the excitement, Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen are expecting their first child, a daughter, in April. It's a big year for Legend
