Joey Badass is one of Kendrick Lamar's biggest fans. In an interview with Montreality, he discussed Kung Fu Kenny and argues that he just may have saved Hip Hop.
"I feel like Kendrick Lamar represents authenticity. He represents real rap. He represents real artistry. He represents poetry. There's a long list of the great things he represents. I appreciate him for being here. I appreciate him for being a part of the rap game, a part of Hip Hop history because before we had him we really was in a critical condition," Joey said.
"To me it's just funny because I've been a fan, I've been following him since I was 15. So I'm like one of those fans that's fickle like, 'Ah, now the whole world wanna get up on him and ride his wave, like ya'll niggas is late'. Now everybody is a Kendrick Lamar fan. Ya'll niggas are bandwagoners," Joey said.
According to Badass, To Pimp a Butterfly is Kendrick's best album because "he reintroduced a musicianship back to Hip Hop on a real major mainstream level that I think was really unique and really needed." His second favorite is Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, then Section.80 and, finally, Damn.
