Jimmy Henchman Gets New Trial In Murder Of G-Unit Affiliate

by HHL Editors

Last year, former rap mogul Jimmy Henchman was convicted of hiring a hit man to kill G-Unit affiliate Lowell Fletcher. It was payback for an attack on his 14-year old son by G-Unit member Tony Yayo.

Henchman was sentenced to life plus 20 years for his involvement in the killing.

He was just granted a new trial when an appeals court ruled a federal court judge had erred when she limited Henchman's defense’s line of questioning of a witness.

“Because the district courtʹs interpretation of the scope of the waiver provision was unduly narrow, its restrictions on [Henchman]ʹs ability to cross‐examine his witnesses and mount an effective defense violated the Sixth Amendment,” appeals Judge Denny Chin wrote.
Henchman is serving a concurrent life sentence for running a $10 million a year cocaine ring.

His attorneys' believe the overturned conviction in the murder case could also lead to the drug case being dismissed, since many of the same witnesses testified against him in both trials.

Henchman's involvement in Hip Hop goes back to the early 9os.

In the diss track ‘Against All Odds,’ Tupac accused Jimmy Henchman of setting up the infamous 1994 shooting outside of Quad Recording Studios in New York, in which Pac survived five bullets.
