Ja Rule's 'Luxury' Music Festival Goes Hunger Games; Twitter Goes In

by HHL Editors

Have you heard of the Fyre Fest?

It is (or, really, was) a two weekend "luxury" musical festival in Exumas, Bahamas featuring Migos, Major Lazer, Blink 182, Disclosure, Rae Sremmurd and more.

Tickets started at $1,500 and went up to $250,000 for packages which supposedly included airfare and amenity-filled luxury villas on an island that once belonged to Pablo Escobar.

The festival was the brainchild of Ja Rule and entrepreneur Billy MacFarland.

And it's been a complete and total disaster.

Festival goers started arriving on the island yesterday, only to find the accommodations more suited to refugees than revelers.

@FyreFraud Here's the dinner they fed us tonight. Literally slices of bread, cheese, and salad with no dressing. #fyrefraud #fyrefestival #dumpsterfyre pic.twitter.com/NmNXakSFlq

This is how Fyre Fest handles luggage. Just drop it out of a shipping container. At night. With no lights. #fyrefestival pic.twitter.com/X5CdZRyJWo

What if #fyrefestival is a social experiment to get rich kids on an island and see how they can handle stressful situations without WiFi...

Now the entire festival has been cancelled.

Latest #fyrefestival update is that all flights in are being held/turned away. Do no depart Miami before clear communication from Billy. https://t.co/JgSGYSkfrt

The Fyre Festival debacle may be over on the ground, but its effects will linger.

Guys, I'm on the plane going to the #fyrefestival and there's a couple breaking up because Ja Rule might've scammed them out of $7,500. pic.twitter.com/DonQ6mPGkB
