Ja Rule Weighs in On Rap Music & Ja Morant

by Daryl Nelson

The Chicago Bulls' Patrick Beverly said last week that rap music is having a negative impact on Ja Morant.

His comments came after Morant was suspended by the NBA for eight games for brandishing a gun in a Colorado strip club.

"The music we listen to and how that is the new brand," said Beverly on The Pat Bev Podcast With Rone. "The music say I keep pipe, I do this and I do that. That turns into, I need a pipe. A pipe meaning gun."

Ja Rule was asked about Beverly's reasoning and he agreed.

“Hip Hop is very influential," the rapper explained. "I’ve done things in my youth because of Hip Hop. Redman made ‘How To Roll A Blunt’ we started smoking blunts. Snoop [Dogg] made ‘Gin and Juice’ we start drinking gin and juice. Hip Hop is very influential. I’m not gonna say it’s not ... The thing with Ja, I just hope he has some better people around him and let him know that ain't the way."

Is Morant letting rap lyrics influence his decisions in your opinion?
