J. Cole has hit Kanye West with subliminals before, in his tracks "False Prophets" and "No Role Modelz."
Since then, he's expressed his annoyance at Ye for Twitter publishing a private conversation they had.
So it's no surprise that folks think Cole hit West with another sub on his new track "Middle Child".
"But I'd never beef with a n***a for nothin'
If I smoke a rapper, it's gon' be legit
It won't be for clout, it won't be for fame
It won't be 'cause my shit ain't sellin' the same
It won't be to sell you my latest lil' sneakers
It won't be 'cause some n***a slid in my lane."
The theory is Cole is referencing Kanye's issues with Drake, which Cole is suggesting is for clout.
