Of all the emcees of their generation, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar probably get the most universal love.
Some of that comes from Wu Tang member Inspectah Deck, who says Cole and K.Dot are two of the young rappers he listens to.
"I’m not really bumping nobody’s mixtape or nothing like that but I did listen to J. Cole’s new album," Inspectah Deck told VladTV. "I been listening to Kendrick Lamar’s new album."Although he likes them both, Deck does have preference.
"I like Kendrick because Kendrick is keeping that spirit alive of trying to educate and teach people, man. I feel in the next couple of years, he’s gonna be one of the top dudes because just the attitude he got. [It’s] the same thing [with] J. Cole. I put him a little over Kendrick because he’s been doing it for a little longer. It’s soul music, man. I listen to their music and I feel myself. I listen to their lyrics and what they write and it reminds me of me, to just go deeper than the average emcee. Salute to the younger generation, man. I didn’t like y’all at first ‘cause I thought they were just about a bunch of stupid shit."Who do you prefer between Kendrick and Cole? Or are you just waiting for that joint album?
