Ice-T says These Two Artists Were The Last True Gangsta Rappers

by Daryl Nelson

Ice-T has been credited with being one of the pioneers of gangsta rap, along with Schoolly D, after the Philly rapper released his 1985 cut "P.S.K. What Does It Mean?"

The Law & Order star recently spoke with Unique Access Ent about gangsta rap and named who he believes was the last two artists to truly embody that gangsta rap persona. [Head to the 3:55 mark]

"To me, the last gangsta rapper was 50 Cent, because to me he embodied that image. You know, that 'I don't give a f*ck,'" said Ice. "50 Cent had you really believe you didn't wanna f*ck with him ... I think now the new trap rappers, you know, they convince me they can get high, they convinced me maybe that they can sell a little drugs, but they don't scare me ... You know who the last gangsta rapper was? Bobby Shmurda. But that's when keeping it real goes wrong ... They were bar for bar snitching on themselves."

Do you agree with Ice-T that 50 and Bobby Shmurda were the last two true gangsta rappers?
