Ice Cube Discusses Kanye West saying Cube Encouraged His Anti-Semitism

Ice Cube was none too happy when Kanye West brought up his name on Drink Champs last year.

It was around the time that Ye was going on a bunch of anti-Semetic rants.

“You know, Cube’s really set me up for this,” said Ye, while also saying the West Coast rapper “really influenced” him to “get on this antisemite vibe.”

Cube later responded.

“I hate that my name was dragged into this Drunk Champs bullsh*t,” he tweeted at the time. “I don’t know what Ye meant by his statements, you’re gonna have to ask him. I didn’t put the batteries in his back. Please leave my name out of all the antisemitic talk. I’m not antisemitic and never have been.”

On Monday, July 17, while speaking to Piers Morgan on Sky News Australia, Cube was asked about Ye mentioning his name. [Jump to the 5:05-mark]

“He spoke my name without really explaining what he meant, and I just really couldn’t leave that statement out there,” he explained. “I had to kind of rebut that … Since then, we’ve talked. I think Ye understands that generalizing will always get you in more hot water than being very specific."
