Hopsin Announces Retirement And A Move To Australia

by Sermon

Over the last few years, Hopsin has been vocal in his frustration with the industry and his growing fame. This was documented through various rants on Twitter, Facebook and on his last album, Knock Madness. He said that he would be taking time off earlier in the year, but those plans have changed.

On Facebook, he posted a photo of himself with all his bags at the airport as well as the following message for his fans:

I just wanted to take time out to say I appreciate all of u who have supported my music over these past few years. A Lot of u have told me stories about how I have changed your life. You too have changed mine in ways that u can never imagine. Unfortunately, tonight is the night that I am actually moving away to Australia. Over the past couple years I have come to conclusion that this profession just isn't for me, so im going to venture out into new areas of life. I will always be an MC at heart, but this rap stuff just isn't for me. I hope Youguys can respect it. I've signed over my half of the funk volume label to my business partner Dame. I also wished Swizzz, Dizzy Wright and Jarren Benton good luck in their careers. Thank u all! I'm out. Sincerely, Marcus Jamal Hopson aka "Hopsin"
It's sad to see him walk away from something he loved to do, especially because he was one of the artists that made it and built up a solid following in the process. His label Funk Volume will never be the same, but can still thrive with artists like SwizZz and Dizzy Wright.

We hope Hopsin finds the peace he's seeking in his move to Australia.
