After analyzing almost 20 billion tracks, Spotify has determined that Hip Hop is the most played genre on their streaming music service worldwide.
This shouldn't be a huge surprise, as Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late and Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly both set streaming album records this year, and Wiz Khalifa's 'See You Again' became Spotify's most streamed single.
This doesn't neccesarily mean Hip Hop is the most played music in the world, as the demographics of Spotify aren't necessarily the same as the general listening public's.
But it does speak to the immense impact of the genre.
