The late rapper Goonew has been trending this week after his celebration of life event in a DC club this weekend included his body, which was gussied up with new threads and a crown.
Goonew had been shot and killed on March 18.
The event was thrown by Goonew's family, and his mom has pushed back on the criticism she's received for trotting her son's body out.
"For all the negatives, people probably don’t even know nothing about us," she told Fox5dc.com. "They have no idea. People just saying what they want to say and that’s fine. That’s perfectly fine. I’m pleased with how I sent my son away. I wish people would just let me grieve in peace."
Goonew's sister also weighed in:
"We’re not trying to clear anything up," said Ariana Morrow. "We don’t care about anybody and what ya’ll have to say negative. Nobody. We don’t care."
