Future Speaks On How The Labels Finesse You

by HHL JT

WIZRD was the last album on Future's deal with Epic.

He's said he's already signed a new deal, but it's unclear who with.

In a recent interview, Future suggested that he now owns his masters, and explained how he used his popularity to combat against the shady business practices labels engage in.

"Make sure your kids [benefit] from the albums when you're not around no more.  Y'all still be able to get the residuals and it ain't up for grabs ...  who can sign for this? Who owns the masters? Who owns the rights to his music? You gotta get that squared away right now, while you're popular. Use that for leverage with the labels, like 'let me see them contracts' Who own these songs? Who own these masters? How much I owe now. After every album, you have to audit the label."

Future went on to say if you don't audit the labels after every album they'll be charging you for stuff like travel on your second album when it comes time to square up for your fourth album.
