French Montana Responds To Being The Most Streamed African-Born Artist Ever

by Daryl Nelson

It's official. French Montana's music has been streamed more times than any other African-born artist, according to his publicist.

He responded to the news Monday, February 20, on Instagram.

"That lil immigrant boy had faith !" wrote French, who was born in Morocco, before moving to the Bronx as a youngster. "Thank you to all my fans love y’all ( DOCUMENTARY COMING SOON )….. let’s make more history … a GOAL without a plan is a wish."

The news about his streaming numbers comes at a time when Africa's Afrobeat sound has gone mainstream and has seeped into various musical genres.

In fact, Akon started a debate a couple of months ago after saying that African artists are better performers than American artists.
