Former Bad Boy Rapper Loon Ends Long Prison Stretch

by Daryl Nelson

Most were probably introduced to former Bad Boy artist Loon when he was featured on Diddy's 2002 single "I Need a Girl (Part 1)" with Usher.

The Harlem rapper was busted a decade later for selling drugs and charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess, with intent to distribute 1 kilogram or more of heroin.

After serving eight years in a Florida prison, his sentence is now over, according to XXL. It happened after Florida's Federal Correctional Institution granted him a compassionate release because of COVID-19.

Documents show that Loon suffers from latent tuberculosis, acute laryngopharyngitis, acute bronchitis and bronchopneumonia. So a COVID-19 diagnosis could've done him in.

The New York Post says that several rappers and singers urged Donald Trump to release Loon, including Snoop Dogg, Faith Evans, Mary J. Blige, and Napoleon from Outlawz.

Loon was supposed to be released from prison in 2021. Diddy hasn't said anything about his release yet.
