Floyd Mayweather's Bodyguard Shot; Police Say Shooters Wanted Floyd's Crew

by Daryl Nelson

Earlier today, TMZ reported that Floyd Mayweather's bodyguard Greg La Rosa was shot in Atlanta.  Police said the shooters were targeting the boxer's caravan of three SUVs.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. Monday morning. Floyd and his crew were heading back to the hotel after time at the nightclub and the Waffle House. The SUV Floyd was riding in didn't end up getting hit.

La Rosa was in the passenger seat of the vehicle that was and took a bullet in the leg. He was treated at the hospital and released.

"Another vehicle pulled up beside them at the intersection of Peachtree Road and Highland Drive and fired several times at one of the vehicles," said police. "All three vehicles fled and reported being followed for a distance ... After losing the vehicle that was following them, the victim's vehicle drove to Grady Hospital where the victim was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and is in stable condition."

Police spoke to the driver of the vehicle in the caravan that was shot. He believes the shooters were following him and so do the police.

"Based of the actions by the shooter, we believe he was familiar with the entourage or the group of vehicles he targeted," said an officer. "The specific person in that entourage or in the group of vehicles, we haven't been able to determine."

Floyd hasn't commented on any of this yet, but police said they're eager to speak with him as soon as possible. Do you think someone was trying to kill Floyd?
