Eminem isn't much for the internet. He (read: his team) will send out tweets every now and then usually promoting something like a new Em t-shirt. The only place on the web you can truly find Eminem is on Genius. At random moments, he hops on the site to annotate his lyrics. In his latest round of explanations, he flexes his sense of humor while talking about his next album.
"I don’t know why people have suggested I name my next album Empower or Empart…This has been said to me so many times over the years," He writes on the annotation for "Phenomenal." "If I were to name an album with such a stupid play on my name it obviously should be called Empanada."A. Who is talking to Shady about album titles? I can't imagine Royce Da 5'9"calling him up and telling him to call his album Empower. Are fans suggesting it? Maybe he's secretly hanging out with a select group of fans in Detroit for a Marshall fan club type thing, or he logs onto KanyeToThe anonymously to read the Eminem thread and see what people want.
B. It might not work as an album title, but a song called 'Empanada' has possibilities. It's been a while since Eminem made me laugh on a track. Em spitting about his favorite types of empanadas, where to find the best ones, and what he puts in them ... it could work.
Nonetheless, it does create some hype for another Eminem album. You have to wonder what he's cooking up, if not empanadas. At age 43, what does he have to say anymore? How do you live up to your legacy without damaging it? Em takes his time with each album, so hopefully time has been good to him on this next one.
