Drake Wrote Hook For Standout Track on Kanye's "Ye" -- And Didn't Get Credit

by HHL JT

The intense banger "Yikes" is the most popular cut on Kanye West's new album Ye.

The track's sinister, melodic hook sets the stage for the song.  And it was written by none-other-than Drake. On Hot 97 this morning, Peter Rosenberg explained what went down.

"It is now a confirmed thing that Drake wrote the hook for 'Yikes," he said. "It may be the best melody on the album when you go listen to it. You'll hear it now and go, 'oh, that does sound really good.' [Kanye] gets a double congratulations in my opinion. They didn't credit [Drake]. They said they like 'forgot.' They left him off, he doesn't have a writing credit."

In Drake's Pusha T diss "Duppy", he alluded to helping Kanye in ways folks don't know.

What do you really think of the nigga that's makin' your beats?
I've done things for him I thought that he never would need
Father had to stretch his hands out and get it from me
I pop style for 30 hours, then let him repeat
Now, you poppin' up with the jokes, I'm dead, I'm asleep
I just left from over by y'all puttin' pen to the sheets," Drake spit.

Now we do know that Drake recently wrote one of the best parts of West's new album. Which certainly adds a new layer to the whole "ghostwriter" accusation Kanye's artist Pusha T has thrown at Drake.

Perhaps this is why Kanye wants the Push-Drake beef "dead."

Rosenberg discusses how Drake wrote for Ye at the seven-minute mark.
