Drake Says The Music Charts Were 'Fixed' After 'Scorpion' To Give Other Artists A 'Fair Shot'

Drake and 21 Savage are currently promoting their Her Loss project, and spoke on Off The Record with DJ Akademiks. Savage chopped it up with Ak in person, while Drake was on FaceTime.

During one part of the discussion, Drake said that due to his 2018 album Scorpion being so successful, the music charts were changed to give artists a chance to compete with him.

Some might recall the album going platinum in a single day and breaking streaming records.

“Ever since we were dunning off the charts from Scorpion, they fixed the charts anyway," said Drake. "So, it is what it is. You know they had to give other people a fair shot, so the streaming isn’t what it was ... At the end of the day it’s more about the feeling, the momentum. It’s not about the exact numbers."

Do you believe there's any truth to Drake's theory about the charts being fixed after Scorpion dropped?

New rules about bundling have suppressed everyone (besides Taylor Swift)'s numbers, which had the effect of evening things out.
