Meek Mill & Drake Both Win At The Billboard Awards

By HHL Editors

The general consensus is that Meek Mill took a scarlet L in his battle with Drake last summer.

But his 2015 album Dreams Worth More Than Money just grabbed a big W at the Billboard Awards last night.

Meek's sophomore effort surprisingly topped Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre and two Drake albums -- If You're Reading This It's Too Late and Drizzy's joint project with Future What A Time To Be Alive -- to win for Best Rap Album.

Billboard's award are given out through a complex formula made up of sales and online chatter. DWMTM ended benefiting from both Billboard's tracking period and Meek's negative social media mentions. You can read about more of how Meek was able to beat out four more critically regarded albums here.

Drake snagged a pretty important award too -- beating Fetty Wap, Future, Wiz Khalifa and Silentó for Best Rap Artist.

Overall, the big winners were The Weeknd, who took eight trophies, and Adele, who topped The Weeknd, Drake, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift for Top Artist.
